About the Artist

Born in Tehran, Iran, Afshin Harati's foundational engagement with the arts began long before formal training, nurtured by an early immersion in theater, architecture, and interior design. This multidisciplinary background laid the groundwork for a distinctive artistic perspective, one that sees the world through the lens of constructed spaces, dramatic narratives, and the interplay of light and form.

Commencing his painting career in 1975, the artist continued to develop a unique voice even after immigrating to Canada following the Iranian Islamic Revolution. His work has been widely exhibited internationally, gracing renowned galleries such as Jorjani, Shirin, and E One in Tehran, Mekic Gallery in Montreal, Arta Gallery in Toronto, and was featured in prestigious events like Artforum in 2014.

Throughout these years, the artist's work has consistently grappled with fundamental human concerns, weaving together personal experience with universal themes to create a compelling visual language.
